Planning a Las Vegas conference trip: hotel, venue and downtime

Expanded planning answers reviewed October 22, 2026 (Pacific).

Which conference dates should I book around?

NAB’s 2027 conferences and workshops run April 3–7; exhibits run April 4–7. CES publishes January 6–9, 2027 and requires industry registration. AWS re:Invent runs November 30–December 4, 2026 across multiple venues. Build the travel window around your pass and first confirmed session.

Plan around your first required session and your last commitment. A conference trip works better when hotel, transport and free time follow that schedule.

Confirm the event with its organizer

Use the organizer’s own website to verify the year, dates, attendee requirements and venues. CES currently lists January 6–9 for CES 2027 and identifies onPeak as its official housing agent. AWS’s re:Invent site lists its Las Vegas conference information separately. Treat the organizer’s current page as the booking starting point, even when a third-party listing helped you discover the event.

Map the sessions you will actually attend

Write down the building, room or venue for your first session, badge collection and any evening event. If the program spans multiple locations, compare your hotel against that pattern rather than a single convention-center pin. Confirm any organizer transport arrangements and allow for arrival queues. Do not assume a hotel stay includes a conference badge.

Compare housing on equal terms

  • Follow any official housing link from the organizer’s website itself. Check who takes the payment and who handles changes before you book.
  • Compare the same stay dates, room type, occupancy, taxes and applicable hotel charges. An advertised conference rate is not a substitute for reading the total and cancellation policy.
  • Check whether arriving the night before or leaving the morning after fits the actual program. Avoid booking travel around an unconfirmed session time.
  • Keep the reservation confirmation and the event registration as separate records. A change to one may not change the other.

Make an after-hours plan you can keep

Choose one nearby dinner or a show with a comfortable gap after your final session. Check its entry time and your return journey before paying. If your conference finish time is uncertain, keep that evening flexible. Save hotel and activity ideas in My picks, then verify availability directly with each provider.

Use the directory as a starting point

Our homepage conference directory can be searched by event, industry and month. Its listings carry their own research date, so recheck the organizer before committing. No registration, hotel block or attendance is guaranteed by a listing here. The hotel guide helps compare your base; the show guide helps plan the time you genuinely have left.
